Memorial Drive Residence

The Memorial Drive Residence is a 3,000 SF home on a high-end Atlanta lot. The site began with a dilapidated existing home that the owner originally wanted to extend with a small one-story addition. As the design progressed, the structural reality of the existing house and the goals for resale value pushed the project from addition to full renovation and effective rebuild.

Studio RNB served as Design Architect. We worked through the existing condition first, documenting what the structure could and could not absorb before committing to demolition or retention decisions. The original gable form, the relationship to Memorial Drive, and the lot's frontage with adjacent contemporary infill houses set the design language: white siding with dark accents, a clear front gable, a covered front entry, and a rear elevation built around stacked outdoor porches that give the back of the house the same architectural weight as the front.

The interior carries the same restraint as the exterior. A vaulted great room with exposed wood beams opens onto a kitchen island and a balcony beyond. Marble and brass details appear in the primary bath, a powder room with a textured wall, and a fireplace surround in the great room. The two-story rear porch sits over a two-car garage and gives every upper-floor room a private outdoor extension.

Studio RNB also documented the permit set and shepherded the project through municipal processing. The build is complete and listed for sale.
